(More customer reviews)I bought one of the Malibu Mosquito Inhibitors and several packs of refills last year at my local Wal Mart to use when we go camping. I usually place it on the ground under the small table between our chairs under the awning. It worked well for us and the smell is much more pleasant than the old cintronella candles. Also no open flame around our granchildren.
About a month ago, we were having a problem with the mosquitos in an outside storage room at work, so I decided to bring it in and try it. I put it in the center of the room with a fresh refill and fresh batteries. The smell was pretty strong the first day but it got rid of the mosquitos, the flies, the moths, and all the other bugs that we have there. I left it running 24/7. The batteries lasted two weeks to the day. I changed them and finally had to changed the refill after 18 days. It still runs 24/7 and will until the mosquitos die off for the winter.
It worked so well that I wanted to get more refills. Of course WM doesn't carry them anymore so I came to Amazon.com. I bought three more Malibu Mosquito Inhibitors and 20 packs of refills. I now have the one at work, one in my garage, one in my husbands workshop, and I put one back in the camper.
One thing I have found about the refills is that if you store the unopened ones upside down so that the liquid is all on top of the sponge when you open it, it seems to work better. When the smell starts to fade a little, I take the refill off and flip the sponge over to get the "juice" back on the top. I keep doing that until the sponge is completely dry and it makes them last alot longer. Also if you won't be using it for awhile, take the refill off and cover it with a piece of foil or stick it in a ziploc bag to keep it from drying out. Once the refill is opened, you should store it upright or the "juice" will run out.
Here in Swamp East Missouri (South East Missouri), where we all thought the mosquito was our State Bird, we love these things!!

Product Description:
The Malibu battery-powered mosquito inhibitor does what repellents can't: it blocks the mosquito's ability to track your scent by using the patented chemical Linalool that was developed in cooperation with the USDA. Linalool was found to be twice as effective as DEET and many times better than Citronella oil at preventing mosquitoes from homing in on human scent, blocking mosquitos up to 100 feet. Retake control of your yard and enjoy the outdoors without being eaten alive. Simply turn the switch to the "on" position for mosquito protection.
